Locals are bit odd, no night life, conjested, food awful, ok for cheap fags, booze. Nothing of any real interest there, looks like a city centre anywhere in england but with awful shops selling crap. Stuck in the 80's. Christ the only thing it has is ape's but once you seen one monkey you seen them all surly. Gibraltar has taken all the ...

I visited Gibraltar four times and then deided I would live there for two years. It is one of the safest places in Europe. A female could walk through Gib at anytime of the night and FEEL safe. Jews, Muslims have lived in harmony for 300 years. It is clean and the rubbish is collected every night and the street washed and scrubbed several ...

Most relaxing holiday
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/05/05
We both loved Gibraltar we stayed at the Caletta Hotel which is right on a small beach. the hotel staff were very helpfull and polite. There was a bus stop just a few hundred metres from the hotel and the fares were very reasonable just 30pence into town.An absolute must is a ride on the cable car to the top off the rock the veiws are breath taking. But beware the apes are very quick and will snatch any food out off your hand so be warned.
I drank beer in an authenic irish pub and watched soccer with some french patrons. Then had awesome morrocan food at a place with only two tables. My hotel, next door, was run by swedes. Their breakfast buffet was unique. Gibraltar is small but intense. If you can hike you to see the Macques (barbary apes) and the canons that are aimed into the strait.

Not a bad place to visit if you live in Spain gives you a touch of British culture without having to be there. You can see Morroco from the Rock and lots of Apes in the wild...small place but worth the visit

Frustrating and not worth the trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/14/05
We were told to park before we crossed the "frontier" before we got into Gibraltar. (Long lines getting back into Spain) We sat in a line for an hour following a sign that said "parking" before we realized we were crossing the border. Gibraltar is confusing, dirty, cramped, and not worth the trip. Besides the pub signs, it ...

Not a safe place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/09/05
We felt unsafe the whole time we were there. The kids ran riot. Catalan Bay at night was a no go area. Youths racing up and down in their cars. Even seen police officer near to tears as locals just laughed and ridiculed him as tried to take bottle of spirits off youth. This made our visit, not a good one. There is no nightlife. Some of the pubs you entered the atmosphere was terrible. We ended up staying in the Hotel.

Welcome to THE ROCK! :-)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/08/05
Gibraltar is absolutly one of the most amazing places in the world. Three hundred years ago it was ceded to the brittish and has remained vitally important in many aspects since then. Its involvement in World War II is intriguing, its ethnic diversity is impressive (where else do Jews, Christians and Muslims all live together and get along?), its ...
