We'll be heading to Regensburg for our third visit later this month. If you have a chance to go there, even if it's out of the way, do it. Everything about this smaller, but marvelous ancient Bavarian city is wonderful!
I was at the University of Regensburg for three months studying abroad from the United States. Regensburg is an absolutely beautiful city with a very rich history. The people of Bavaria are very friendly, and the shopping, as well as sights to see, are all wonderful.

It has a lot of old streets and buildings, including Roman ruins. It was never bombed in WW 2, so it is a charming and unique place in Germany, and elsewhere in Europe. Prices are in line with other cities in Germany. It has a lot ov very good retaurants, and reasonably priced fine hotels.
