October Feast of Scenery.After an absence of 21years I expected some big changes and was most pleasantly surprised to find everything (except computer technology progress)the same.The pure air with no industry within miles surrounded by high mountains is sheer bliss.

We can't wait to go back!Our family had the opportunity to vacation in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany this summer and we LOVED it! We stayed at the five-star Edelweiss Lodge and Resort on the military reservation in Garmisch, and it was excellent. Gorgeous Garmisch!My hubby and I took our infant to Garmisch on a 4 day trip... There was so much to do! Every time we turned our head there was something new and exciting... R&RWe enjoyed our stay in Garmisch. It's a quaint town with a lot of history. We stayed at the Edelweiss Lodge available for U.S. Military. It was outstanding! There is a lot to do in this location and it is so close to the borders of Italy and Austria. The view from all angles is marvelous.2 of 2 Yahoo! Friendly People, beautiful sceneryWe loved this part of Bavaria. We stayed at the Post Hotel Partenkirchen, and it was a wonderful experience. It's a bit of a hike from the train station, or a short taxi ride, but it was worth it. The atmosphere and history of the place was thoroughly enjoyable.

Live there for a yearIts a beautiful place. If you want really good skiing, drive the 20 to Lermoos in Austria (its good in Garmisch, but better in Lermoos). Go see an SC Riessersee hockey game, the fans are crazy there!! Romance on the ZugspitzWe were newly married and had been stationed at Rhine Maine Air Base. The year was 1958! We decided to take a trip south to see the Zugspitz and other sites. If You're Every In GermanyYou MUST come here. It is breathtakingly beautiful. The scenery, the people, the food. With so many places to stay, visit and eat, you can NOT go wrong here. Lot's to doThere is so much to do we could have stayed another week. Very easy to drive into Italy, Austria and Switerzland. Loads of castles to see. Not to mention going to the top of the Zugspitze. Zugspitze & EipseeWe took a very scenic (but quite expensive) cable car up to the top of the Zugspitze. The view was outstanding when there was one but I would have liked to have planned a little more flexibility and done some more weather checking as I am sure the view would have been much better on a clear day.
