Minamar Hotel was a fantastic find! The hotel rooms are charming with high ceilings and marble floors. The price is great ($40 for a twin room which includes breakfast and dinner). The location is good- in a safe area and within walking distance of the lake, service food is excellent.
I entered the middle pyramid and saw the tomb where the king was ,, its amazing there ,, I cant wait to get back.. THERE WAS ALONG BATH WHICH LEADS YOU RIGHT AWAY TO THE TOMB OF THE KNING ,, BUT THE MUMMY WASNT THERE AND YOU COULD SEE THE WALLS AND PAINTINGS..

Minamar Hotel, Bahariya Egypt Giza
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/19/07
We booked a tour with the Minamar Hotel, Bahariya Oasis. Beware. Do not believe the website for this hotel or its tours. The hotel is a total dump, and the desert tours are unsafe with the contracted vehicles old and on bald tires. Bad food No electricity Cold water Overall filth Indifferent employees
I was fortunate to take a 5 week trip to Egypt. The pyramids were amazing. Cairo was wonderful, there is a lot to experience right in the city without travelling very far. I would highly recommend a tour guide, we had one for our whole trip and he was VERY helpful. He gave us many tips on where to eat, where to shop, and what to watch out for. All in all it was a great experience, just keep an open mind to their culture!
the ability to get so close and even go inside (extra admission)the Giza pyramids was an awesome experience. In the 5 days we stayed in Cairo we visited the pyramids 3 different times ending with the light show.To still be able to see one of the wonders of the ancient world was a lifetime dream and we were not disappointed. If there was a dislike it ...
I really enjoyed crawling around the pyramids, They were awsome! Make sure you go inside the middle pyramid. But you have to be careful of the guys selling the camel rides. Make sure you agree on a price before the ride, if you do not they will try extore more money from you before they will let you off the camel.

trip of a lifetime
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/07/05
PROS: Amazing trip. Loved the pyramids, sphinx and ancient egyptian artifacts, statues, etc.
CONS: Disliked locals begging and pressuring my family and me to ride camels at the pyramids. Felt very uncomfortable. Bartering was too intense.
REALITY CHECK: Saw dead animals (horses, etc) thrown in water on side of the roads. Very dirty, poor area.
