Luperon is a chaotic little town that gives you an idea of what the culture is actually like. Unlike Sosua where you are constantly assualted by vendors and overweight Euros in Speedos, Luperon is pretty much the real deal. There's a few places to exchange currency and they are easy to locate. Also, just about any road out of town leads to an interesting place. One of my favorite spots in the DR.
