The watersports are some of the best in the world. Kitesurfing, windsufing and surfing all around are great. If you get a chance check out the AMAZING waterfalls nearby.
I stayed at the Hotel Alegria on the east tip of Kite Beach not far from the Casino. The hotel experience couldn't have been any better. The rooms were impeccable and the staff were courteous. The manager also hooked us up with good prices and a dive ship nearby.
We stayed at El Magnifico in Cabarete. Our 2-bedroom condo was beautiful - dark wood and billowing white curtains, with 3 patios and all the comfort we could want. Since we stayed in early May, the offseason, we were astounded at the value -- it cost each of the 4 people less than $350 for 7 nights! the hotel was a short walk down the beach from all the bars & restaurants, and the beach itself was lovely.
Cabarete! we call it a little bit of europe in the DR. Why? most of the restaurants are italians, germans. etc... a lot of people from europe. the night life is just aweson! there are discos on the beacht, a lot fo music and a lot of fun! no body sleeps!
I have been in Cabarete 4 times so far and going back at the beginning of april. One of the best towns in the DR. Friendly people, met some great friends at Jose O'Shay's, the owner, Frank is a great host. The restaurants are very good and so is the atmosphere around the beach. One suggestion: stay away from the sea grapes resort, absolutely awful.
Is one of diverse beach of the country. if you like wind surfing is the perfect place to go. It also has many cites were you can see the Dominican culture.I you dont like waves then is not a good beach for you.
