lay out nice, pools nice except they close at 7pm we didn't, every one of our rooms where wrong, saw some of us changing rooms three times, food we were told the food might be blann we brought spices, I wouldn't have wasted my spices, 95% crap, even the resturant that you have to make reservations at, good until got cold steak sent back ...
dirty towels, ugly rooms , bad service, and the only way to get reasonable service is to tip, and the, the beach is not for swimming, and the food horrible, the chef clearly hasn't heard of garlic rosemary, cumin or thyme

Cuba - Playa Caleta: Hotel and Service from Hell!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/22/09
Rated 4 star. Sunwing advertises it a Sunwing Club Exclusive.Club Torture for us. Spacious, open lobby on 2 levels. Cigarette smoke everywhere. We asked front desk staff if there was non-smoking public areas, we got giggles as they held their lit cigarettes below the counter. It's called a family hotel; if you or your kids can survive ...
VARADERO is a ideal place for your travel. Everything is very convenient for you. You would be really satisfied because of its good services. This is also the best place in Cuba for watersports, scuba diving, fishing and boat trips, with three marinas and two diving clubs offering a wide range of activities. Varadero is divided into three distinct sections, though all are united by the same stretch of beach.

VARADERO-Beach, Sun, Friendly Friendly People
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/07
2nd Time here, once in 2004 then again in January, 2007. Have travelled to many-like lots of beaches in lots of countries and the beach in Varadero is awesome. Stayed at Breezes Varadero which included 3 rounds of golf per week - more than adequate - did stay in the tower which some people said was nicer. Have to plan your travel - first off the ...

beaches are beautiful, people are friendly.
Although we had 2 a la carte restaurants, we were able to eat all our meals at the buffet. I must say I am a little surprised by those who are so fussy they can't find something to eat. Deli meat, breads, salads, fresh fruit and juice. Eggs, omlets, ham, cheese, deserts that are endless, best ...

Absolute Paradise

I stayed at the Barcelo Solymar May 2006; must say it was way better than Cancun, Mexico. The resort and staff were great, the nightlife and shopping were alot of fun too. If going to the bars...take your own toilet paper as either you will have to pay for it or drip dry! I felt safer on the streets in Varadero than in my own city, very safe ...

Going back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/27/06
Was wonderful - have done a lot of travelling and preferred Varadero to a lot of other places. No Americans, but lots of Europeans. Cubans are a wonderful bunch, very freindly, and want to help out all tourist as this is their main import. Food at hotel was OK, recommend going into town and trying different things. Golf course was great. Will go back in an flash and already planning a longer stay.

Great Time for a low cost vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/31/06
I would recommend Varadero for anyone: Couple or Singles, that is looking to get away from the North America scene, especially away from the work environment and everyday routine, but yet doesn't want to spend over $1000 per person.
What I loved about Varadero is the Party City, the young crowd atmosphere and definitely the friendliness of ...
