Nice place but on the whole unfriendlyJust returned from a three day trip to Split after a few days in Dubrovnik.
The place was quite nice with a pleasant boulevard, interesting history and nice variety of buildings. It was cheaper than Dubrovnik, although not to an enormous extent.
Food was okay but quickly realised it was rather 'sameish'.

What a dreadful place!It was dirty, smelly, expensive with poor service and unfriendly people. I am amazed at the reviews written so far. We couldn't wait to get home.

I Fell in Love With Split and Her PeopleVisited Split in May, 2007. Beautiful city, beautiful sea, lively, happy, patriotic, enthusiastic and amazingly beautiful people (men and women). The Adriatic was warm and clear. Transportation was on-time and excellent at all hours of the day and night. Great food. Why is it not mentioned in travel logs more often? Keep Split a secret!Just had a great week's holiday in Split and it was really good.We had great weather and the sea was just the right temperature, blues skies all the way.
The food was varied and the beer cheap also the wine was was good value, even has a vegetarian restaurant which is a must to visit veggie or not.

Poljud,Split,CroatiaPoljud is the stadium of Croatian soccer team from Split - Hajduk. It is the most beautiful stadium in the former Yugoslavia. The fact that I like the most about this stadium is that it is not in the are of the city which is too crowded with people or where there is a lot of traffic jam. Wow!This was truly a wonderful experience. I had the opportunity to attend my friends wedding in a beautiful old historic church. We walked from the church to the reception in the beautiful streets of Split. The history, the architecture, the atmosphere was like none other. I would love to visit the beauty of this city again. Most Relaxing and Beautiful City in CroatiaThe old city of Split was absolutely fabulous. It was so beautiful and relaxing. We stayed at the Hotel Peristil within the walls and it was also great. Nightlife was there if you wanted it. Lots of great places to eat and have a few drinks. Still cheap as well although beer cheaper than a pop! Wonderful PlaceThe beer on the Riva, and the room rental ladies on the steps -find a non-hotel room for about 20-$25 bucks. I had an unfair travel advantage since I had met a local in Paris, and then emailed for a while- so they were able to show me around Split and Brac.
