Kinshasa really is a wonderful city and D.R. Congo is a beautiful and diverse country. I have lived in Kinshasa for 6 years before the war and have family still there now. There is plenty to do and see if you are willing to get out experience it. ALthough it is true Kinshasa is quite expensive, like most developing countries it is best experienced when you have money to spend.

I worked on the project of INGA SHABA. The beer was excellent. Never forgot the MUMBO JUMBO club. I actually enjoyed seeing what I did. Met some nice people there.

u have to know why u r visiting !
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/25/05
Kinshasa is like a jungle where everyone tries to survive. If u know the rules & principles than u will be successfull and enjoy yourself. Everything is possible in this place; Congo is a country of hope, dreams and 'despair'. Whatever u can think of is possible in kinshasa ( D.R. Congo ).

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/06/05
let me tell u all that kinshasa is safer than new york. and it is more fun than any city in the world.
The city is a great place if you stay in downtown or the white suburb of Gombe. But if you venture elsewhere you will encounter some very interesting and sometimes scary things. Once leaving picture perfect downtown you menter a totally different eorld. Chaotic traffic chokes streets, outdoor markets, and begggars galore. But5 it is fun for the ...

KIN
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/07/05
KINSHASA IS A GREAT PLACE IF YOU CAN GET IN. SECURITY IS TIGHT AT THE BORDERS. KIN IS ALOT MORE EXPENSIVE THEN MOST CITIES IN AFRICA. THE NIGHTLIFE IS AMAZING IT'S A NON-STOP PARTY. THE PEOPLE ARE SO FRIENDLY, ESPECIALLY IF YOU LEARN SOME LINGALA, IT GOES A LONG WAY. DON'T LET CNN FOOL YOU IT'S NOT DANGEROUS.

Life is cheap in this city
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/15/05
got stopped by fake police and they tryed to steal my passport. Took a picture of a neat wall and a policeman tryed to take my camera. The only affordable food is from street vendors-good if you like rocks in your bread. Men whip it out and piss on walls right next to the US embassy. Like warm drinks? Nothing cold here. Need transportation-time is elestic in Kinshasa
