Its small and parts are poor neighborhoods of blacks who are decendants of slaves thatmade Cartagena their home. The poeple and the way of life are infectious. My favorite Hotel is the Santa Teresa in the Old City or known as the Charleston. The Santa Clara is a close second both were convents and still have the Old charm. My favorite restaurant ...

Cartagena April 2007
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 04/11/07
I've read and heard much about it, but it may have changed since the previous reviews were written. The old city is indeed fascinating. However, most of the locals in Cartagena are poor , and if you arrived via the central bus station, your taxi must have passed through all the poor neighborhoods prior to arriving to the beach area, which was ...

Amazing
By Carlitos, 05/25/06
The architecture of this city is breath taking, the history is very interesting, and the people are so friendly. I would highly recommend a visit to Isla de Rosario while in Cartagena. The beaches and water are absolutely beautiful. The water is as clear as a swimming pool. I would also advise staying at a hotel with private beaches. The public beaches are full of vendors that can be very aggressive.

Spectacular Architecture and Great Food

The thing I liked the most of Cartagena was its spectacular architecture. It is a 500 year old city full of culture, great food and fantastic people.
My family stayed in El Getsemani. It is in the old city. The hotel was Casa El Carretero
For food, I think the best place was Fusion and La Vitrola. There is another place called Club de Pesca ...

Probably, the most beautiful city in the world!!!
By tom_ward_gb, 05/08/06
I just came back from Cartagena, Colombia, where I've spent the most fantastic time with my wife. The walled city is so amazing that it's hard to explain in words. The old city is as beautiful as an Italian town, but the fact that it is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, gives it a unique atmosphere where you can re-live the adventures of ...

Cartagena is a diamond in the rough. The historical architecture, the people, the food and best of all the Boutique Hotels that are popping up all over town make it a destination to desire.
I went to Cartagena for a work conference and had the opportunity to have a few days of leisure. I stayed at a boutique hotel called Casa El Carretero in ...
