small expectation, large returnI read through Jiangsu Province's tourism website (tastejiangsu.com) and got a feeling that Nanjing, the capital, was a city worth visiting. I didn`t have that impression in my mind. But... I went anyway. When I got there I was completely amazed. This coul dbe my american mind-set, but everythng was better than I had pictured. nice tripi have traveled extensively throughout china, xian remains my favorite, follows closely by nanjing, the city maintains cretains old charms, such as the gates, too bad they are not better presented, be sure to visit the ming tomb, nanjing museum, and the presidential palace, on the other hand, i was not too impressed by the temple or the sun yet sun memorial.OVERALL

Taiping CapitalNanjing is a remarkable place considering in 1937 it was at the hands of rapacious Japanese and not totally destroyed. But more importantly, Najing was the old capital of China and home to Sun Yat-sen. The locals will not let you forget this. So, what is there to Nanjing?

MY HOMETOWN ZAOYANGThis is the small city where I was born, where I was educated and enjoy the childhood. There're many people in my hometown. They all work hardly. a city suiting for living--NanjingI went to Nanjing with my parents and my cousin few years ago. The city has a balanced layout between traditional and modern architecture. Its many broad boulevards are well shaded from the summer heat by tall trees.

Awesome city...Although this city is really not in the books as is BEIJING or Shanghai, it's definitely comparable to them. It used to be China's old capitol so it's full of great historical sites. Also, the food and shopping is great for a good value so make sure to check out those. Very nice city overall, although sometimes in the morning the smog is really unbearable.
