The trip there on the train was stunning to say the least and the 36 hours from Xi'an actually went very fast as we were so taken with the exquisite scenery. Lhasa was that and more- the devotion of the people and the towering structure of the Potala Palace make it an experience beyond compare. It is certainly a place I will return to.
I found Tibet so inspiring, I wrote a novel about it.
Sigourney's Quest was published earlier this year. It tells the story of a woman whose quest is to return an ancient Buddhist manuscript to the Samye Monastery in Tibet. The novel describes scenes, adventures and a culture that can only be found in Tibet.
The correct entry should be Lhasa, Tibet. The language is not Chinese, and the people are not Chinese. The United Nations General Assembly have recognised Tibet's right to self-determination.
This is a very beautiful and famous place where the Top of the World Himalaya moutain locates. The weather is cool throughout years but it's not very safe and life is still poor. Nevertheless, if you are interested in nature and history, it's the place that you cannot skip.
