  • not a bad city
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 12/22/07
    winnipeg was an ok city.
The downtown,I have to say wasn't all that alive at all. It wasn't all that clean either. I think residential areas were nice with friendly people. I went to the forks and it had some beautiful scenes that you can enjoy and great food.
Winnipeg is a city you can enjoy your vacation in. It's not a bad city, it'll be a better city if they took better care of their downtown.

  • A nice city desparately in need of a downtown.
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 12/19/07
Winnipeg tries very hard to be a great city and succeeds to some degree. The people are simply the most friendly in all of North America. The residential streets are lined with tall elm trees. The weather is usually sunny. It is a large, capital city. It is very flat except around the river banks. The downtown is absolutely dead. If Winnipeg were ...

  • MPLS of Canada
    By J A, 11/09/05
Very under-rated city. Very mild in the summer. Less mosquitos than Minnesota. A gem in the middle of nowhere. I was born and raised in Saint Paul, MN and never knew that Winnipeg was only a six and half hour drive. If you live in Western WI, MN, SD, ND, IA or NB it is worth a drive. Stay downtown. Very safe and clean. Best of all, beautiful, ...

  • Drab, Drab, Drab
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 10/28/05
Winnipeg is a lifeless, shell of a city that has been gutted by suburbanization and an outflow of young people to other centres in Canada like Toronto and Vancouver. The winter is torture, and so is the summer (with the combination of mosquitoes and hot, dry weather) The city is totally isolated geographically, and it feels that way too. The ...

  • Winnipeg, my new home
    By Peter M, 09/22/05
Having recently moved to Winnipeg from my home city of Vancouer one year ago, I have to say Winnipeg is a seriously underrated city. It's no Vancouver, but the city definitely doesn't deserve the bad rap it gets with most Canadians.

There's tons to do here, at all the times of the year, the city is historic, alive.. and the people ...

Cant believe how much there is to do here.
If you love theatre its here. There are great restaurants all over the city. There is plenty of shopping, from malls to quaint specialty shops. There are plenty of night spots, from country western dance lovers to present day dance clubs.
Your hotel will help you. No matter where you stay, they will help ...

  • Winnipeg Visitor Notes
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 09/11/05
Old Transportation centre city built on the delta where the Assiniboine River meets the Red River. Downtown is movie set turn of the century charm.

Weather (Winter) and Mosquitoes (Summer) are the drawbacks.

Inexpensive to explore and dine although there are an abundance of nouveau 'bistros' to avoid.

Cost of Living is amongst the ...

Best thing about Winnipeg is the Fort Garry Hotel, simply the best in North America.

Friendly people, nearby beaches, great fishing. What more could you ask for?

  • Plan your Sunday
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 08/09/05
Had a great time at the Peg. Unique part of country wich you rarely hear about, many white sandy beaches, large lakes with great scenery.
Winnipeg has obviosly invested lots of money in its museums and many more main attractions in the city. Not so crazy about the amount of stores closed on Sundays.Thats ok though, because I caught plenty of fish and the heat must of hit 40 degrees that day wich I did not expect in Winterpeg.

  • Winnipeg visit!
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 07/01/05
People are very friendly and low key, almost like a small town. Most seem to have been born and raised in the area. But the city is very, very cold in winter - be prepared!
