I lived there for over a year and I'm so anxious to get back. It's a great tourist city that is situated on the mouth of the Amazon River. Beleza Belem!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/17/05
If you go, you must go to Salinas (about 2 hours from the city). It's the best on the weekends. Try some of Belem's unique dishes: Acai, Vatapa, Takaka, coxinhas, and so much more. Be sure to go to Docas, 11 genelas, and some of the cute bars. Taxi's are cheap but wear your seat belt. Have fun!

I would give anything to return!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/01/05
Belem is a fast paced city. It is a fun place to visit and to live. Be cautious but not scared. I would give anything to return there! For the adventurous, travel down the Amazon to Santarem, and maybe even Oriximina. Obidos is also a neat place but very, very small! The people here are wonderful!
