Family oriented resort, but very crowded between February 14-21. Rude skiers. Poor GPS directions from Munich. Icy sidewalks. I've seen much better conditions in many other places.
I was there in the begining of 04 with some friends. i had never been ther before and boy was i in for a surprise. the slopes are great, the views are breath taking, and it was all lots of fun. Lines werent too bad there, and they were even better in kaprun. kaprun is like a 10 min bus ride or car ride. there were so many hotels to stay at but ...
Zell am See is only an hour or so from Salzburg and offers a great get away from the city. Nestled in the mountains, the view of the lake is breath taking. Not only can you enjoy the views, but the food and the shopping are worth the trip. The town is geared toward skiers, but that should not stop you from going in the summer or fall when the ...
there's nothing i disliked about zell am see, it's a very comforting plce, nature all around, it's toooooooo quite. the air smells like heaven, i never felt pollution, not any kind of pollution. the people are very friendly. it's too small a town that u almost see the same people every day which arises a sense of friendliness. one never feeels homesick in zell am see, i wish i would live there one day
I liked the weather, the lake, coffee shops... etc I went to the Krimml waterfall and it was nice. I also went to GrossGlockner peak by public bus, you can go there by tour bus in 8 persons package, and I was imazed by the things you see in the way.
I disliked the train in the middle of the night. I stayed in Grand hotel **** stars and it was very close to the train track.
I was an American soldier, 1952-53, I loved the people, hosptality, my favorite place, wish I could visit. but, know Zell Am See is my favorite place on earth. Thomas P.Chandler Yorktown, Virginia tomchandler@cox.net
The skiing was excellent and i would definantly go back BUT the resort is always very crowded. Every morning there was an hour que to use the gondala to get up the slope.
I found Zell-am-see (and neighboring Kaprun) to be the perfect location due to its variety of outdoor activities, lodging choices, and proximity to Salzburg and other central Austrian excursions. I was there during the month of September (recommended) which meant fewer people and mild, dry days.
