Reviews are old - what a kitch spot - want beaches - there a lot nicer - want crowds - then you've got them. BB is over rated and over done. But if you are 20 something and are looking for girls then of course BB might interest you. Otherwise..sorry.

Felt Like Europe To Me....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/16/06
Byron was ok.... but there were a lot of Tourists! mostly Europeans. I didn't feel like I was in Australia, I felt more like Southern Europe. If you're looking for a nice place with many wonderful Australians head up north, where there are less people.
Byron is a magical place!! We camped almost on the beach and spent the days surfing or walking into town to watch people. Nights were spent in the pubs or grilling. It was just so relaxing and free of stress. Nothing like it.
As the most easterly point of the Australian mainland, one can feel proud of its wide reach and relaxed with its long strecth.
Standing on a bald rocky headland with a precipitious cliff on the east side, and a sheer drop of approximately 100 metres, Cape Byron Lighthouse is the most easterly light in Australia, and one of the most powerful.
Byron Bay leaves traces all over you. You can't avoid it. With beautiful surf beaches, laid back and friendly athmosphere, sunny weather and the alternative hippie culture, you're bound to let all stress go, mellow out and just take life as it comes. Byron Bay teaches you how to get in touch with yourself, find your true passions, inner peace and happiness. And the best part: Im not joking: The place is truly magic!!!!:-)
