Parkersburg is a sleepy, historic small town. Another review mentioned gangs, where. There are no truly dangerous neighborhoods some are poor but not dangerous. There is not a lot of night life. The real charm is the area around Parkersburg. There are many places to visit within 50 miles of Parkersburg that are true eyecandy and very historic. Great place to go relax for a few days

I have lived in the surrounding area of Belpre and Marietta and find my way to Parkersburg quite often and have lived there a few times over the past twenty years. wow the other comment on this city was complete BS. Parkersburg is a nice town, although it's not the most exciting place in the world; I have no clue why anyone would vacation in Parkersbug, but it's a nice littel place to stop off or spend a night here. For more entertainment in WV check out Charleston, Morgantown, or Huntington..Parkersbug's never really been known as WV's most exciting city.
