Olympia is a quiet town south of Tacoma, Washington. Though it is the state capitol, it is not pretentious or overstated. you can enjoy quiet walks along the pier and good food downtown.

since it is in western Washington, it rains 1/2 the year, but that makes for some stunning scenery (when it is visible: April - October).

I live only a ten minute walk away from here. Execpt for the smell, it's a great place to unwind. There is a place to stop and rest on the way to the bridge leading to the downtown area. From here you can look down onto the marina and literaly lose track of time. Once you get to the marina, there's a little park with so many things to look ...
