Yahoo! fails to mention that Money magazine proclaimed Norfolk as the number one city in which to live in the South in 1999 and 2005, and Planning Magazine has recognized downtown Norfolk for its resurgence in downtown residents and its redevelopment. The waterfront and the rest of downtown are fantastic and leave visitors that read reviews such as ...
My car was broken in there parking lot. They say it was at our risk. We were not aware of the car until 1:00pm on Friday. No one took the time out to see whose car that was. We made a trip to Virginia and came out with a $500.00 bill for the deductible. They don't have a camera on site to protect the cars or visible security. The other car that ...
We took our out of town friends here for their anniversary....the waitress was missing in action throughout most of the meal....we ordered garlic bread as appetizer,,,she brought out a tray of 5 pc. of garlic bread....no bread plates, no extra napkins to put it on.....never asked if we wanted extra napkins, etc., etc....brought our salads, which ...

Fantastic Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/06/08
Since I left the Navy in 1962. We come back every year for a week or 2. The cost are not bad. Just go there to relax. Now live in Florida and that cost a lost of money and low wages. Be back there again in May
We stayed at a SUPER8 in PORTSMOUTH VA which was great and then went to NAGS HEAD for a week of wonderful weather and food.

Norfolk Local
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/06/07
Norfolk is a great town, full of history and diversity. There are a bunch of upscale restaraunts and actvities and a myriad of casual, family-oriented things to do. I have lived here all my life and couldn't imagine being anywhere else. Granted, the military is certainly a headache in this entire area. It can be pretty frustrating when they ...

Norfolk is a great place to live and work!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/20/07
Norfolk is a great place to live and work. It's diverse - there are many people of many different cultures and financial means living here. The people are generally friendly and welcoming to new neighbors. There is a good sense of community and neighborhood in most areas. People look out for each other and help each other. There are many ...

Boring and Rude
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/06
Shallow, Boring, Rude; these are the things I think of when someone says Norfolk. It is not cheap to live here. The former military people not only have that blind republican attitude but the drive down wages because they collect their Uncle Sam pensions. Don't go. It is quite uneventful.

Looks nice. It isn't nice, though.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/06
Architecture and Historic Preservation are big items in Virginia and especially Norfolk. All of the aesthetic ammenities seem to disappear when you get to know the people whom live there. Generally there is a rotten and insular attitude among the people who have been there a while. People are uninteresting and uninterested in meeting new people. ...
I spent four year going to ODU. Norfolk is the "city" that is the center of Hampton Roads. If I never go back there I won't care. There is nothing that makes the area special at all! The people who live there must be from Mars or something because they don't seem to realize that thei favorite places are all chains and you can ...
