This is just a small fishing village. Very quaint. If you are looking for action then this wouldn't be the place, but if you are looking for just a nice quiet time exploring nature, fishing and crabbing then it is great! The Best Western was great. It's an unkept impoverished town that happens to have a beach. The stores are covered with dirt and stains and filled with sickly looking locals. The beach had monster-trucks racing in the sand around people. Low class bars, greasy spoons and "discount" groceries are the only places to eat. Our condo was filty, stained and full of animal hair. The beach was sort of nice when it was virtually empty.

We absolutely loved Snug Harbor!!! The owners/operators were very pleasant and accommodating. Our cottage was more than we expected. Perfect size, clean and quaint. Location was quiet but very close to everything. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets, beautiful marina, tiki bars, sand, a gorgeous setting to have morning coffee or carry your dinner ...

What should have been a highlight of our vacation turned out to be a boring, amateurish, and expensive waste of time.

First I'll say the beach at Chincoteague is fabulous and the island is nice and quiet if you prefer that to the more partying type of beach places. They have a movie theatre and putt putt and trails to hike bike or drive. Do not go on the Assateague Explorer Boat tour. They promise remote areas to see the ponies, and the pictures they show ...

When you are in the mood for something a little different, be sure and check out the Sea Shell Café. On Maddox Boulevard just before the entrance to the Refuge, the Sea Shell has sandwiches, salads and pastas In the evening the dinners are great. A bit different than the standard menu found elsewhere on the island.

We vacationed here in August, just got back actually and we were very let down. From the moment we checked in our hotel and the lady at the front desk was having a conversation with someone else and using some colorful language.
