I was really disappointed in the city. The lack of decent affordable hotels made me regret ever coming. Even the sleazy hotels charge from 110 - 120 a night..! The surrounding subdivisions are really nice. Huge expensive homes. That was the only nice thing I can remember. Restaurants were O.K. Typical chain restaurants but subpar.

What is there to NOT love about Virginia? There's a saying that home is where the heart is. Well, my heart has nver left Virginia. I spent many years there. Raised a family and became a local there. Terrible Wingate Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/25/06
Chesapeake is a great place to visit. However, it is lacking in good affordable hotels. Most of the decent hotels are $159- $169 per night and have limited availability. Book in advance. I chose the Wingate Inn because it was new. It was a Horrible Hotel.Dirty rooms and very poor service. It is not recommended, not even for half of what the others charge.
Great place to get wings they have something like 25 different flavors from Honey Mustard to ones that I wouldn't give to my worst enemy and all the ones in between.
The staff is about as friendly and fast as you could hope for and the atmosphere is pretty laid back but its kind of a bar atmosphere not sure if I would take the entire family there but thats my opinion.
Very community oriented, lots of things to do, lots of choices, very safe. Various theaters, some cheap and some expensive. Lots of movies and plays. Beautiful in the fall. Family beaches.
Chesapeake is a beautiful, quiet, country place which is excellent for rest and relaxation. If you are interested in the fast-paced party life, then Chesapeake is not for you. But if you want a nice quiet get-away come try Chesapeake. The people are friendly and the bars are open til 2.
