  • Cotton Palace
    By Hans, 05/02/06
Cotton Palace is the best BandB in central Texas. Beautiful home and should not be missed when in Waco! Cameron Park is one of the largest and most hiker/biker friendly parks in the nation! Try it you will see!

  • From a Resident
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/04/06
I live here in Waco, and it has it's pros and its cons. For one, it is very crime ridden and ugly in the inner city, but I live in the suburbs, where it is very green, quiet, and safe. There is a lot of things to do here. I would rather live somewher else, but I would recommend Waco for a day trip, not a vacation.

  • I wish I could move
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/04/05
The law enforces are lazy. It's too closed in for me. Although most shopping and dining is in walk distance. It's requires alot of armed and dangerous living. They even have a saying about Waco Tx. Come Waco on vacation leave broke and on probation.

  • Just keep Going
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/06/05
I lived in Waco for a couple of years and it was not a good experience. While the people are nice, the city is extremely poor and crime ridden. Nothing has changed in the "downtown" since 1950. I had no idea that there were cities in America that were this poor and rundown. I have spent a lot of time in third-world countries and this city ...

  • Not too BIG, not too small...
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/24/05
Very green with alot of trees making for nice atmosphere. Friendly people everywhere.

    LOTS of restaurants, shopping, etc.

The river and lake are both pretty much in town and offer a variety of things to do.

  • We ate at Homestead Heritage
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/16/05
We liked Homestead Heritage just north of Waco. Great food, fun place to take the family. Great feeling of wholesomeness and togetherness.

We wound up downtown at the Waco bridge, not too far from Baylor. They have their 4th of July celebration there every year, complete with bands and fireworks. Seems to be alot of Chislom trail history packed ...

  • Small town charm
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/17/05
Certainly not the most sophisticated or interesting town in Texas, but friendly people, a good value & easy pace of life. I've never heard of anything violent or unusual about Waco, so not sure about the other review- find that hard to believe or rare at best. Overall, a typical, friendly sleepy small town.
