Back in businessWe were skeptical because of the recent hurricane, but businesses seem to be going strong. We loved breakfast at Ted's and once we found the Padre brewpub we were contented.OVERALL

Poor Customer Service! BEWARE!We just checked into our hotel today, for what was supposed to be a week vacation and we just put in our 72 hour notice to check out. South Padre - Sand Castle FestivalNice and quite island with population about 5000 people (in 2008). Even though it is near from Galveston (Refinery Town of Texas) the beach in South Padre Island is very clean.

Traveler BewareHusband and I traveled to SPI February 2009 on business/pleasure trip. Business precipitated or we wouldn't have considered it. Encouraged by local folks who'd been there alternately referring to it as "paradise" and "like being in the Bahamas." Will not go back!Being near the beach was wonderful, but that was about it. If you don't go there when it's spring break, there is no action around the island at all. It was so quiet and boring. Will never go backThe beaches were Dirty!! There was trash everywhere. Paper plates, paper cups, beer bottles and strips of wood with nails in them. I didn't even sit on the beach. Love S. Padre/Hate Parrot Eyes Water SportsMy family has visited S. Padre Island for vacation for years and we always have a wonder time. This year we went on a jet ski tour with Parrot Eyes Water Sports. Our tour guide named Mike, was rude, rude, rude! Unless your a professional jet skier, don't go out with him. SPI a great place for family vacationsJust spent a week in South Padre Island. What a great place! Everyone is friendly, the prices are reasonable and the weather was great.
Our favorite things were the dolphin watch, a trip to Sea Turtle Inc, and the beaches.
We found a great cafe called Benny's by the Bay. They have wonderful breakfasts and lunches at a reasonable cost. Many great places for dinner Sea Ranch and Scampis were our favorites.
