I have been going to Concan every year almost all of my life - I love it! We have stayed mostly at Garner State Park; however, we've also stayed at Neal's many times. We spent our honeymoon in a Frio Country house - beautiful. The Frio River is clear and tubing it is so much fun. We've tubed it when it was very low and when it was ...
We normally camp at Garner State Park, but anywhere along the Frio River would not disappoint you. The water is beautiful and not frigid like the Guadalupe in NB. The river bed is cover in river rock so the water appears to be carribean blue, crystal clear. It is very relaxing! A great get-a-way!
Beautiful place to camp and enjoy the river. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Spent 3 nights there in October of 04 and even though they are fenched in and gated our cooler was stolen the last night we were there. Guess the local kids wre out that night.
It's awesome, what else can i cay? the water is beautifull. it's away from all the chaos of the city. it's not over abundant with tourist. If you want to get away from your problems and into a great relaxing state of mind. Concan will take you there.
The Frio River is the clearest river I have ever seen. You don't even need goggles. It's very clean and the view is exquisite. Tubing down the river is my favorite thing to do. There are also rope swings alongside the river. You have to try those. There are many different sized cabins to stay in. Some even have hot tubs and/or horse shoe pits. My family goes to the Frio every year and we never get tired of it.
Seven Bluff Cabins in Concan, TX is the best campground I have stayed at in the area. The owners are friendly, the cabins very clean and comfortable and the grounds are well maintained and ordained with birdfeeders, shade and flowerbeds. I highly recommend staying here. (ppsssstt....it's cheaper and quiter in the off-season: Sept-April)
If you like New Braunfels you will love Concan and Leaky. If you are looking for a laid back place to take the family to float the river this is it. It's not touristy like NB. The scenery is beautiful. The river is crystal clear - the river isn't sandy it's more like limestone river rock. (not sure what it is exactly)
