We just returned from eleven days of exploring communities all over North and South Carolina. Aiken was by far the most beautiful town, had the best climate (not so very steemy in the summer) and is one of the most reasonable places to live. We loved it and are hoping to relocate there.

Very Impressed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/27/06
It felt like the Hamptons with horses instead of the ocean. Also without the pretense. We liked it so much on our 1st visit that we bought land.
There is a rich equine history in the area, Polo, Fox Hunting and Steeple chase are still going strong.
Hitchcock Woods is one of the largest urban forrests in the US @ 2000 acres+ and is right downtown providing wonderful riding and hiking.

South Carolina's Best Kept Secret
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/01/05
What a scenic town with lovely people. There is much to do here. If you like shopping there is a wonderful historic downtown where you can walk from shop to shop. Plum Pudding, Beads & Baubles, Lionel Smith (for men) and The Artist Parlor are the best. The shops on Park Avenue have front door parking access. And no meters. A town without ...
Excellent Public safety with local and county governments (agencies)
Easy to get around and beautiful city and country side.

Aiken
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/25/05
Aiken is the greatest! I have been visiting here for a while to ride and enjoy the city, and I love it. People are friendly, and for a small city, the dining and activities are quite good. Most everything is within fifteen minutes and the ocean is about an hour and a half. It is a sportsman's paradise!

Horse Play

My family and I visited Aiken, South Carolina last weekend. My husband was there on business. We dicided to travel with him since it was Mother's Day weekend! While my husband worked, me and my three children enjoyed visiting around the city. The evening we arrived, we didn't have a car, so, we stayed at the motel and the kids went ...

I fell in love with this town!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/24/05
Aiken has small town southern charm, yet affords big city culture. Lots of history and if you like horses even a little, you'll love this part of SC -- It is horse country. The Aiken Triple Crown in March is not to be missed -- Racing, Steeplechase and Polo. A college town with a good medical center. Anybody that was anybody wintered in ...
