  • Don't bother
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/03/09
There isn't much to see or to do other than look at the downtown view which is nice. But the area is hard to get around, horrible potholed roads. Downtown is sort of dead and rather scary at night, reasonable parking is non-existant. The restaurants and nightlife are just fair. If you are into old buildings, there are lots of those. Take a trip out to the outlying areas for some scenery.

  • Truly a renaissance city
    By First, 09/25/09
Best place I have visited in a long time. Friendly people, astounding scenery and the food! If you can't fine something to your taste here, you don't like eating! Pittsburgh has truly turned it self around. I have lived in Los Angeles for 9 years already and wish I could relocate to a smaller, friendly and cleaner environ like Pittsburgh.

  • Not a destination
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/01/09
There is not really enough to do here to warrant a vacation trip and the weather is not good most of the time, especially fall winter spring.

  • Maybe not a vacation city, but...
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/19/09
My wife and I left Northern Cali and found great jobs in Pittsburgh of all places. We took a few trips to check it out and then decided on the move.

Our salaries are basically the same as they were on the west coast but the cost of living here is substantially lower. We live in a comparative castle and have been extremely satisfied with all ...

  • Been there, did it
    By Sean, 04/18/09
And there is something sort of demoralizing about the place after a while, suffocating. There's not really that much to do for the vacationer, and the weather is unreliable to say the least.

  • Nicer version of Cleveland
    By GregB, 09/08/08
I am from Cleveland and lived there my whole life. Here's what I mean folks. Pittsburgh is like Cleveland in a lot of ways.

    Terrible weather
Same people living there for 20-30 years and never moved
    Weak nightlife
No job growth happening any time soon
Buildings and businesses are the same age
    Lots of food places
Sports fans worship their NFL ...

  • Problem-burg
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/17/08
Those ratings magazines are whack - and mean little since they all rate places different and then they change their own ratings wildly from year to year. This place - it's mostly a dumpy town and the economics are a shambles for the 21st century world. Nothing has truly changed aound the area in the last 40 years either.

  • ranks high in livability surveys
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/11/08
Because of its low cost of living, economic opportunities, education, transportation and medical infrastructure, Pittsburgh is consistently ranked high in livability surveys. In 2007, Pittsburgh was named "America's Most Livable City" by Places Rated Almanac; and "America's Best City for Relocating Families" in 2008 by Worldwide ERC, a relocation services industry trade group.
