I agree with several other reviewers who cite Toledo's blue collar population and high crime. As a college-educated person, the only gig in town is the university, and since they're not currently hiring, you'd be out of luck. The blue collar jobs are also leaving quickly, and with a catastrophic unemployment rate around 15%, the city ...

Worst mistake of my LIfe!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/27/09
We lived in S Florida. We came up here and my wife got a job in Bowling Green. I thought this was going to be a temporary move. Every day here is horrible, the people are rude and the crime is very high. I want to drive stakes in brain just to stay sane. I do feel my ire for this dump rise daily. Toledo is a place your sent to, for crimes aginst ...
Toledo is a dying city. 30 years ago this may have been a great city to live in but with the Big 3 failing, many of the people with degrees are seeking greener pastures. The city has a few novelty places to check out though. As many have said the Art Museum is great but not something to visit often. The Mud Hens, the local minor league baseball ...

Get out of here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/23/08
Not a very lively city for someone that enjoys city life. Very little to do in terms of sports, nightlife, and entertainment. Heavy blue collar stronghold thus, very resistant to attracting anything new. Avoid moving here. I regret it and wish I was somewhere else every morning when I wake up.

I hate Toledo
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/05/07
Please, do not come to Toledo. Traffic is horrible, people are noisy, lots of crime, and only a museum and some parks to liven the place up. I wish I had never moved here. And it is dirty nasty as the others have mentioned.

More than meets the eye

Some of the reviews on this site are apalling.
First of all, Toledo is NOT THAT BAD. Toledo is just like almost every other mid-sized industrial city in the midwest...it has been struggling for years with a lot of social and economic problems. In many ways, it has been mis-managed and it has seen a decline.
On the other hand, Toledo still ...

Went to the University of Toledo
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/14/07
Pros:
The downtown area had a historic feel to it, the bars were pretty fun and its an opportunity to meet a lot of interesting people living there. Maumee Bay is a beautiful area to visit in the summer as well.
Cons:
Toledo only has a few nice months out of the year weather wise. I lived in a college neighborhood just off campus, I was ...

Meh...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/13/07
Having always lived within an hour from Toledo, I've been there many, many times. Toledo has its pros and cons. The downtown area has some nice spots, notably Fifth Third Field (where the Mud Hens play), COSI, and the nearby Art Museum, one of the best around. Housing and cost of living are decent too. Many of the suburbs are very clean with ...

Toledo Rocks!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/09/06
I grew up in Toledo and moved to Orlando when I was 25. Now, nine years later, I'm moving back and couldn't be more excited! I've seen a multitude of improvements during my visits, including a revitalized downtown area with 5th/3rd Field (Mud Hens), the Docks (restaurants on the river) and a great Farmer's Market (with real ...
....Nothing to see here. I've lived here in Toledo, OH for almost all of my 21 years. Like the other reviews have already stated, Toledo is an average to below average city. It has too many people (about 310,000) to be a small town, and it lacks all of the culture, fine restaurants, nightlife, and shopping to be a big city.
