For those living in North America, especially the East Coast, there is little that is left untamed. This is not the case for Ocracoke, NC. Being part of the Outer Banks, it is surrounded my the Atlantic Ocean and Pamlico Sound. Being part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, it has little room for city expansion. In fact, the town itself is ...

I loved everything about this place. It is affordable, kid friendly and beautiful. The locals are sooo nice, but if you visit treat them well. My only complaint would be demanding other tourist who expect a daily servant!!! Ocracoke is truly amazing!!!!

Best Beach on the East Coast
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/06
If you are looking for a quite remote get away place then Ocracoke is the place to go with 12 miles of unspoiled beach. I stayed during the 4 of July 2006. I did run into a few rude people but most everyone is friendly. The big disadvantage is not being able to buy a mix drink in the restuarants are at the pubs. I also thought it was strange ...
I used to live in Elizabeth City, about an hour or so from the Outer Banks of NC, and we would visit the beaches down there about once or twice a month. Kitty Hawk, Nags Head, Hatteras, and of course, Ocracoke were always my favorite locations on the tiny little strip of land separating the Atlantic from the sounds. It's gorgeous down there but ...

Peaceful, Relaxing Ocracoke
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/05
My family and I loved this place because the there were miles of National Seashore to laze around and have fun. There are many beautiful spots to explore from a maritime forest to the salt marshes to the pounding surf. Many tourists do not come down this far because Ocracoke Island is only accessible by ferry. This makes the island only more ...

Seashore Pearl
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/22/05
A pearl begins as a grain of sand; this thirteen mile stretch of sand is the pearl. Let me share sixty seconds of sea, sky, and sand. Land meets sea on Ocracoke Island, North Carolina, as a spectacular display of sand, shells, seagrasses, ship wrecks, and shore birds washed by sea spray and salt air under an azure dome. Each second is pure sensory ...
My husband, 8 year daughter, her friend, and myself just returned from our vacation to Ocracoke. Very enjoyable, beginning with the ferry trip from Swan Quarter, the girls thought that was fun. The island is very friendly, and the motel (Pony Island) which we stayed was very nice too. Clean and comfortable with a nice pool. The weather was perfect, ...

Poor Sandy Shores
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/29/05
To the person dissing Sandy Shores...you're right!
My husband and I have been renting cottages in Ocracoke for almost 17 years, and used Sandy Shores (formerly Sharon Miller Realty) most of the time. When it was Sharon Miller, they were WONDERFUL! So very accommodating and friendly.
