there is such a lack of diversity in greensboro, nc! i have lived in southern states before but the prejudice, assumptions, never been anywhere but here attitude is overwhelming! its the people here period (black and white) that lack diversity as well as a mixture of ignorance and stupidity! it would be a wonderful place to live if the people ...
I've traveled to the area several times to visit family...
PROS: Greensboro is a growing area. It's growing by population and industry. FedEx, Dell manufacturing, Honda aircraft are in/coming to the area. The downtown area has a lot of cool furniture shops, antique stores and locally-owned restaurants. Ed McKays is great for used ...
I moved here in 1996 and the transformation that had already started back then continues to this day. This is a thriving, vibrant community where southern hospitality has true meaning. I have always felt welcome here, despite what others who have simply passed through have written.
If you're going to spend any time in this area, here are ...

have lived here for 4 years--xenophobic

If you haven't been living here (and are white) for three generations--Lord Help You! This is one of the most insular towns I have lived in or visited. Its like a little piece of Alabama--I have lived all over the country in small towns and large cities--and have NEVER felt more unwelcome and faced with more ignorance and stiff-necked, prejudicial, discriminatory arrogance as I have experienced here in this unpleasant community.

Are You Kidding Me?!?!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/24/06
I'm SCHOCKED people are rating this place so highly. My job relcoated me to Raleigh, NC and I traveled to Greensboro for work often.
It is a growing town in the middle of no where with nothing to do - strip malls EVERY where w/chain restaurants.
How many times have you stopped into a small city's downtown and either felt like it had been abandoned or you were strolling around an outdoor version of a generic mall? Native and Love it!!

I'm Greensboro born. I've been all over the country. I've been everywhere from the Northeast cities, to the steamy southeast, to the mild Pacific Northwest. Greensboro NC is a wonderful place to visit and live, and I'm not saying that just because it is where I am from.

a truly horrendous town
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/01/05
horrible drivers, bad food, rude public manners, violent crimes even on college campuses, poor infra-structure, terribly designed downtown (nothing is where it is supposed to be), a cultural desert with amateur theater and below average art-scene..

It is so green and amazing there. We went biking on some back woods and had a blast. There are some great bike trails there. Lots of US history there too. Nice people, felt safe visiting there.
