Our British car group stopped at the River Forest Manor for dinner while on a driving tour in North Carolina. Beyond doubt, that location was the favorite stop of the tour. .... both the River Forest Manor and the the adjoining marina are run by the son of the original owners - whose interests unfortunately lie elsewhere . The staff have little incentive and even less pay... and relate some very negative feelings toward ownership. Remarkably, the place still attracts newcomers who are misled by the glossy advertising ... best to avoid

15 to 20 years ago you couldn't get into the River Forest Manor. The rooms were nice, the food good and plentiful. They had just made the cover of Southern Living magazine.
