Unless you are going to Elmira to visit family there really isn't much to see or do. Outside of going to Woodlawn National Cemetery to see Mark Twain's gravesite or those of Confederate soldiers who perished in Elmira's prison camp, historical sites are few. Elmira Bites
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/24/06
Visiting Elmira was a terrible thing to do, and a waste. It has nothing to offer, unless you're a bore and really enjoy looking at gravesites, it just "bites". Plus I felt very unsafe and so did my family, it seemed the city was very dirty and thier was a high element of "criminal citizens". I would suggest not visiting this city if you dont have to.
Elmira may have its down sides but if you look at it so does every town in the U.S. . There is always something to do in Elmira, like Haris Hill, Park Station, The Jackels, and The Pioneers.

Dull Elmira
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/05
What a place. No cafe's open after dark. Nothing for kids to do. It's a college town with no college atmosphere. The arena is the ONLT attraction in town and when it doesn't have something going on...the town is a little sleepy.
