Los Alamos was a great town, besides the science and wonderful nature views, there are some awesome ruins. Bandalier Nat'l Monument was interesting, but a bit strenuous. For a wonderful drive head towards Jemez Springs for hot springs, lunch, and Jemez State Monument. There you'll find an easy paved path that winds through pueblo ruins ...

I loved this place because it has almost every geographical thing I love. It is a hand-shaped mesa backed onto mountains, and overlooking a beautiful valley with more mountains in the distance! The Jemez mountain area is gorgeous with the Valles Caldera and several excellent campsites.
