My DH and I discovered Las Cruces in 2006 and loved it. We had traveled around the country in our RV for 7 years, and loved the vibe and atmosphere here.
We came back again, and since we still felt the same way, decided to move here. We bought a piece of property with fabulous Organ mountain views, and had a house built.
The drive was long from abilene to Las Cruces, but was worth every mile, my boyfriend Rudy took me to eat at La Posta, in old Mesilla, great Margarita's and food was excellent, best I;ve ever had, spicy, in a good way, great scenery. I loved waking up in the mornings' and see those beautiful montains all around, hope to someday get married and live in Las Cruces. Trish,

City of "Moods and Attitudes".

Las Cruces is located in the great American Southwest—which is mostly a semi-arid desert with sparse vegetation. The weather, as you might expect, is best described as being harsh. There’s very little rain; and then there is too much rain. In between the rain patterns, there is sand blowing along with some hot wind in strong hot ...
There was not much for a tourist to see or do in the city of Las Cruces but you can drive only a couple miles and see the quaint villiage of Mesilla. This is a must see. Eat at La Posta or El Comedor, shop at Del Sol or the Book Center. Sit on the plaza and enjoy the warm New Mexico sun. We loved Mesilla and were so glad to find it. It has yet to be discovered.
I was born and raised in Las Cruces until I was 25. I loved growing up there. Dont pay any attention to chain resturaunts. Stay with the local SMALL resturaunts. They are the best. The food from southern N.M. is like a drug that once you have had you can never get enough. Especially in August, the food is bar none, the best food in the world. Even ...
This place has great climate, clean skies, and friendly people. It is like Southern California in the 1950's. Won't last long. There is some rapid influx of newbies and the flavor is changing rapidly. It is one of the best kept secrets in the Soutwest. Ooops! I let the cat out of the bag.
the have wonderful festivals and art shops it can be unsafe at night and be sure to lock all you doors at night but other than that it's a very special place!

Las Cruces is only an hour away from where I live. When my boyfriend and I want to get away we often find ourselves in Las Cruces. Las Cruces offers many various attractions, but still has a hometown feel to it. It is a nice place to go ad relax
La Posta, in Oldl Mesilla, was the only place that lived up to its reputation. Most of Las Cruces is overbuilt and has lost its charm.
