  • Alamogordo Is An Absolute Nightmare!
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 01/03/08
We have lived in Alamogordo for six years now. For the past two years, my husband has desperately been trying to get relocated out of here. There is absolutely nothing to do here. Our children hate it. There are no decent stores or restaurants. One has to travel all the way to Las Cruces, El Paso, or Albuquerque to get a taste of fine dining ...

  • Small town with it's own unique charm
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 03/28/06
We were stationed at Holloman AFB for several years. We lived both in town and on base. I went through a huge culture shock when I first moved there. There's not a lot to do in Alamogordo. There is no good shopping, only a few good restaurants and practically no night life for young people. The wages and cost of living are low as are the ...

  • Alamogordo-Friendly City
    By Darrah F, 10/01/05
I have lived in Alamogordo for 9 months now and it is a great place to live. The best thing about it is the Ztrans system. This is a wonderful bus system for people who don't drive, like me. The price is very reasonable and there are routes going to Mescalero and Las Cruces will be added soon. There are some wonderful restaurants in Alamogordo. ...

  • The Best of the West
    By angelandace, 09/25/05
The Alamogordo area has the most friendly people. Just think, you can have cool mountain scenery, desert, White Sands, Horse Racing, Gambling, Apache Indian Reservation, Ski Resort (when applicable) and fine wining and dining all within a thirty minute drive.
We have beautiful scenery, sunsets, sunrises, hotels, motels and for your rest, rental ...

  • It's really grown on us
    By cappiebrewer, 08/15/05
Alamogordo is nothing special at first glance. It's spread out along a strip (White Sands Blvd.) at the base of the Sacramento Mountains, and, yeah, it has a lot of fast food restaurants. It's close to Holloman AFB and the White Sands Missile Range, so it's got a sizable military community, including members of the German air force ...

  • Old, filthy pool & run down
    By A Yahoo! Contributer, 06/10/05
    1. This hotel is old and it shows it everywhere. The door to our room was off the hinges. The walls and fixtures were poorly maintained and the bed room wall had several stains. Very dirty!!!

    2. The pool was very scarey and dirty. There was algae all around the top edge and you couldn't even see your hand below the surface in this ...
