what a special town before going into Yellowstone park nice place to just sit at one of the restaurant and have a cup of coffee and enjoy the views of the area you will see lot's of elk. the shops are nice A must visit and enyoy the scenery

Nice small town on brink of Yellowstone

We loved it here. It is a tiny town, which blooms with tourists in the summer. The Yellowstone River runs thru it which is beautiful. Animals roam in the grassy areas. It is clean, safe, and friendly. There are great little shops and way more relaxed than West Yellowstone. You can literally walk anywhere in town. We loved the shops with the ...

Great Town for North Yellowstone Park

Gartner is a good location for viewing the North part of Yellowstone.
Make reservations for lodging.
There is a local restaurant (Town Cafe on east park street)for a good breakfast at reasonable costs. Check out Parks Fly Shop for fishing advice and gear. I wish I had more time in the town, we wanted to go have beverage at a local tavern and play some pool, but didnt have time or were too tired from touristing. Take more days off....
