Butte is a great little city with some fascinating architecture and a growing economy - but what I love most about this place is the welcome I received from the people here. The arts community is growing and begin to flourish with the help of the BSB Arts Foundation - which includes a fabulous coffee house with organic coffees, music and art shows - the Venus Rising Espesso House on South Main Street. Its a great place to visit and to live.

Despite the reviews that I saw about Butte, I'd have to say It was a great trip, there was alot a scenery and historic sites that I was in awe about (i.e. Burkley pit, lady of the rockies, the drive in theater) I recommend Butte for anyone who wants a exciting vacation. There is so much to do, all you have to do is look past the what might seem ...

The first guy said it best

A city of decay. The whole town, down to the hotels, is built backwards and in bad shape. From ten miles out and all in the city you see signs to discourage Meth users (bad drugs). You get in town and see some when you drive through. The old historic part of the town was dead, with a pretty bad business vacancy rate. The old buildings look cute, ...

The only nice thing about this hotel was that it was quiet. The bathroom was filthy -there was a black ring on the toilet and the tub was "grey". The food at breakfast was poor - cold scrambled eggs, biscuits that shattered when you cut them. We had very little sleep at the bed smelled like it had been sprayed with some type of ...

Once you visit Butte and the Derby you will not look any place else. One word says it all "BEST". Butte is a all year around destination point for all seasons. Sking, hiking, camping, hunting, fishing it has something for the whole family not just Mom and Dad. There isn't anyone in town that woud not go out of their way to help you or guide you."It's The People" that is the moto for our area!!

Old town charm
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/26/05
Butte was a pleasant surprise. Nestled on the Continental Divide the scenery is specatcular. The Virgin Mary statue was very impressive. The history of Butte can be heard through young and old alike, just ask them. People were friendly and proud of their heritage. There is character in its people and its history of which they are very proud of. ...

For Industrial Archeologists Only!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/03/05
A once-great town so obsessed with its past that it has denied reality for almost thirty years. This narcissistic nostalgia, combined with the rose-colored blinders and perverse civic pride worn like badges of desperate honor by the hard-core natives have consistently negated any and all realistic efforts to revitalize the place, and it shows. ...
