I moved here from Destin FL, and naturally was disappointed at first. Yes, it is a smaller town, but its the biggest small town i have ever seen. I have lived in many places like SC, OH, FL, CA, and IL and these people are some of the nicest people yet. At first it was a real bummer not having a beach, but other than that it is fine. Not many ...

typical small town mississippi - boring
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/03/06
Hatttiesburg is your typical mississippi town - very BORING and NOTHING to do as far as entertainment and culture. Resturants as mostly low end chains and not very good ones at that. Shopping options are horrible. People complain about the traffic here and if you come from an actual city you have to laugh out loud - traffic here is a breeze.

Best place to live in Mississippi
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/05
I just relocated to Hattiesburg from the Gulf Coast. This is an excellent place to live and the best by far in the entire state! I can see why it was recently picked by US News as a top 10 retirement town nationwide.
Everyone we have met has welcomed us with sincere and true hospitality. Do yourself a favor and avoid Northern MS...the ...

Horrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/05
This town is the worst place I have ever lived. It has three Wal-marts. Why? There is nothing else to do then go there and fill your home with worthless stuff. Trying to find an ATM is like looking for a needle in a haystack, except the haystacks are almost non-exsistant and are filled with snobby tellers who act like they have never heard of ...

HATTIESBURG IS AN EXTREMELY SMALL TOWN - SO IT IS LACKING IN A LOT OF AREAS SUCH AS ENTERTAINMENT AND CULTURAL ACTIVITES,SHOPPING,RESTAURANTS.EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE ADDED SOME NEW RETAIL AND RESTUARANTS IN THE WESTERN PART OF TOWN ITS MOSTLY LOW END CHAIN QUALITY AND NOTHING SOMEONE FROM A URBAN AREA WOULD TAKE A SECOND LOOK AT - DRIVE THROUGH AND GO TO A REA URBAN AREA. OF COURSE, THIS IS MISSISSIPPI SO THEY ARE NO LARGE URBAN AREAS
