I lived for two years in Rochester, MN. We were surprised that it was so nice for a mid-west town but it does have influences which few mid-west towns have, like the Mayo Clinic and IBM, both of which bring in people from all around the world. These folks usually have advanced degrees, liberal outlooks and sophisticated tastes. The net result was ...

Great city but needs more attractions!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/11/07
My husband and I visited Rochester three times in 2006 because we were patients at Mayo Clinic.
The doctors are excellent! They're caring, compassionate, thorough, really the creme de la creme!
We met an obnoxious shop attendant, though, at an atiques store downtown. She was so rude and arrogant!
One of the Mayo Clinic receptionists ...

Horrible City
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/10/06
This is an awful, awful place to live. There is absolutly nothing here to do. Especially if you're under the age of 21. And even then there isn't much to do either. Though it's pretty safe here, I definetly would not recommend living or visiting here. Stay away, people..stay away.
This town is the greatest town ever. The night life however is not that great if you are under 25. Other than that everyone is so nice and willing to help you!
I go to Rodchester a lot. I usually have a great time. Its a nice place with nice people and you feel very safe. It has nice movie stores and plenty of shopping for an avid shopper. But the shopping could be better since they dont have some of the stores I really like. Another great thing is that MN does not have tax on clothing so when it says on a price tag a shirt is $9.99 it really is. A great place to stay

Gracious desk and room service, family oriented pool and nice work out facilities. Quite, great bus service to and from Mayo area's and buildings.
Bar and restuante on site and good food!
I really had a nice stay!

Nothing Else Like It!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/19/05
Rochester is an excellent place to vacation and live! It is very safe and has a low cost of living, not to mention it has plenty to do! You can visit the Plumber House, go shopping at the Apache Mall, or take bike rides on the Douglas Trail or around Soldiers Field. Overall, Rochester provides a great place for all travelers, new families, retirees, or anyone desiring a better standard of living. I should know, I grew up there!

Medicine and Mayowood
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/03/05
Since we doctor at the Mayo Clinic, even though we live hours away, I've mostly seen the medical side of Rochester, which is considerable. (I think that the Mayo Clinic and St. Mary's, are, in fact, the best hospital system in the world - we've been a lot of places, but we have fantastic doctors here). However, there are some great ...
