WE LOVE AREA, IT IS CLEARLY "GODS COUNTRY" OUR FAMILY HAS BEEN GOING FOR 30+ YEARS. WE NOW OWN A CABIN IN THE AREA. THE PEOPLE ARE FREINDLY, THE SHOP OWNERS ARE ALWAYS READY TO HELP. THE COUNTRY SIDE IS BREATH TAKING.
WE HAVE FOUND THE PARKING IN TOWN TO BE THE ONLY PROBLEM. WE LIVE IN THE CITY AND HAVING THIS TO OFFER OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN IS VERY SPECIAL TO US. ELY HAS ALLOT TO OFFER.

The International Wolf Center (http://www.wolf.org) has daily programs for anyone who is in Northern Minnesota and looking for a fun day out. They also provide overnight learning adventures for kids, adults and families. My kids enjoyed learning about wolves from the web site when we were at home and then getting a chance to see the real thing when we were in Ely, MN. When my kids are older I think we'll look into the adventure camps.

This is a great place to go and vacation. Snowmobile trails were great and the people are very helpful and nice. Excellent town.

We loved the area however found a downtown in need of some work. The lakes and woods are lovely outside of town but be sure you come prepared. We found like another reviewer that not only are many of the stores closed or out of business but it is even hard to find a parking place.
