    As a child my mother would take me and my sister up to "Macanac" I would just be amazed as a child of the old city and fort that stood there for hundreds of years, but when I reached my teen years our family purchsed a cottage northwest of Mackinaw island and we really didn't go there much.

    Located in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula, we learned that St. Ignace is the home of the nations longest suspension bridge. The Mackinac Bridge is 1/3 again as long as the Golden Gate.

  • Nothing to see

    If you take the ferry over from Mackinaw Island, be sure you take the one to the railroad ferry dock. Everything is at that end of the city. Otherwise, you'll get off on the far end of town with four stores, two of which are closed, but there's a great family restaurant you won't want to miss. Really not much to do in town, a couple ...

  • Great visit. Would like to go bck.

    Beautiful city. Peaceful and relaxing. Just a short water taxi ride from Mackanaw Island. It is beautiful there also. The air is clean and much crisper than in the lower parts of Michigan.
