As a child my mother would take me and my sister up to "Macanac" I would just be amazed as a child of the old city and fort that stood there for hundreds of years, but when I reached my teen years our family purchsed a cottage northwest of Mackinaw island and we really didn't go there much.

Beautiful city. Peaceful and relaxing. Just a short water taxi ride from Mackanaw Island. It is beautiful there also. The air is clean and much crisper than in the lower parts of Michigan.
