This was listed as a top destination on my Yahoo homepage. I don't think so. It seems like any lake resort with nothing special to do there. I feel Yahoo misled me.

Ive never been on the island itself...there is tons to do on the mainland! It is absolutely the best place to go in MI. I try to go every summer and I live in MI!

Mackinac Island is a must see ....I took my 2 dogs the Island is totaly car free it seem like a step back in time from the Grant hotel to the Colonial time the best is the fudge how i miss it .....the ride over with the boats is an experience it self Rocky (my German Shephard loved it ) Princess (my chow ) she was a bit freaked out...The people on the Island are very nice i highly recoman the place to anyone ....get some fudge !!!!

Mackinac ISland is the best place on earth!!!
I love it there and if you go there you have to stay over night and experience the nightlife;It is so cool trying to find BATS and it is so peacful!!! It just is not the same when you just stay over night!!!!!!
I love biking around the Island; like, looking at Devils Kithchen, or just biking inside ...

I live in Michigan and I go to Mackinac Island just about every year. I LOVE IT THERE! I never stayed in any hotels there (too expensive!). I just go for the day. It is expensive but there's nowhere else like it. And if you like to shop for unique things, Mackinac Island has it. The restaurants are very good and so is the fudge!! Everyone should go there at least once.

This is a great place for weekend getaway. I could not wait to go back next year. I especially enjoy sitting on top of ferry and biking around the island.

However, I would avoid staying at Days Inn (1074 State Street) since hotel manager assumes that all minorities are thieves ??? This is what he told me when I checked in: " we need your credit card in case you are stealing or breaking something????" hmm ...
