The is a great town!
By Jeff Sink, 07/19/07
Why would any one want to write a review of a whole town?
This one is full of lots of fun stuff to do, and I used it as a base station for lots of other adventures around MI

Small Town Ambience
By Bertram B, 03/27/07
I had the opportunity to travel to Grand Rapids recently t meet and visit my fiancee's extended family. I found the city to be clean and the people friendly. We stayed at the Hampton Inn - which was, well, a Hampton Inn. One of the most memorable things about the trip, was our ride across Lake Michigan on the Lake Express. What beautiful ...

Grand Rapids is my top city in Michigan
By da_indians_ate_my_butter, 11/11/06
The best place to visit for a family trip. Compare it to detroit or lansing and it's heaven. Downtown is very high class and can include many great resturants and entertainment along the lovely Grand River. Also my favorite part is the cascade area. It is the cutest town and 28th street has so many great resturants on one street! I believe ...

best and worst of a small city
By redkernsully, 10/20/06
I lived in GR during college and found some things to love and hate. First, the arts & entertainment scene is excellent. There are two independent and several mainstream movie theaters and a lot of great bands from any genre of music are always playing. Tickets for these events are cheaper than other places I've lived. The bars are also ...

Bland Rapids it is
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 08/25/06
I agree almost 100% with the person who called GR "Bland Rapids." And I should know because I live there. He is right in saying it is about the only semi-tolerable city to live in in Michigan (you couldn't pay me to live in Detroit), but it is a pretty sad existence. I only live (t)here because I have ties keeping me in Michigan. ...

It is pretty boring there.
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 07/25/06
Grand Rapids really is a boring city. Not a whole lot to do there except go to Lake Michigan about a 30 minute drive west.
Oh, and bye the way, by my understanding, Grand Rapids is, by no means a "College town". Pretty sad actually as the city could really use some younger, educated residents.
Not a recommended place to be, visit or otherwise.

"Bland Rapids"
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 07/11/06
This has to be the most boring city I've ever been to, by far. Anyone that raves about the the city, its horrible restaurants and shameful hotels must be from the midwest as their frame of reference is horibly limited.
Most people in "Bland Rapids" are terribly passive aggressive and speak with some of the most annoying affects ...

Grand Rapids Brewing Company-Great food and brew. In nearby Ellsworth, there are Tapawingo and The Rowe, award winning restaurants. House on the Hill B&B is excellent for welcome by hosts, happy hour, and gormet breakfasts.
