Great Restaurant TownNorthampton is sort of like a little Cambridge (MA).
Restaurants and entertainment are plentiful, but parking can be difficult. The only negative things are a higher than normal percentage of people with mental health issues walking around, and the inability of the city to clear snow (streets) effectively in the winter. Fun and energeticBreakfast was in a Train and was good "greasy spoon" fare.
Walking the town makes for some very nice looking and shopping. Lots of variety and not your standard pre-packaged stores.
