Lobby was first clue--bare cement floor and bullet-proof glass at front desk. Room had terrible chemical smell; the paint was chipped and cracked; furniture looked like it came from a garage sale; door latch was damaged. There was no iron in the room--I had to sign out an iron at the desk with with a $10 deposit. A coworker stayed in another room ...

S.S. may not be a big city but I got mad love for this place. I'm 18 years old and have lived here for about 13 years of my life. It's being improved too with all the new stuff in Downtown, like the Majestic movie theatre. If you aint from around here then you may think is not safe and what not but it's real, its street. That's something I wouldn't give up for all the big, bright buildings from NY to Cali.

Great location and amenities. Walk to shop, coffee, dine and several movie theatre options. WOW. Check out the ACI theater matinee specials and monthly runs on foreign films, the nostalgia is incredible!

Wonderful gem of a place! Restaurants were wonderful, location was fabulous, and history of this town was rich. Would come back in a heart beat.
