We went here on our first family vacation, Mother's Day the year my son was born. A cousin of mine was also married here on the beach. Just a Wonderful Place, Very Romantic.

We have been going to York since our children were babies. Since our first visit, we fell in love with the town and it beaches (and let's not forgot all the great shopping). Love driving up the coast too...Ogonquit, Wells, Old Orchard, Freeport (LLBean, of course), etc. All are great to visit. Lots to do or not to do at all. Favorite ...
It just wouldn't be summer without a visit to York! From walking miles on Long Sands (sunrise/sunset/and again after dark) to riding our bikes out to the Nubble and all around town to breakfast at The Goldenrod and gifts at Joan's across the street ... way more but not enough space and time! We travel in June when the "other" ...
I loved going to york for the zoo and shops along the roads and the beach is so clean and beautiful. The only thing i see wrong with york is that there are so many people but at least they are friendly. I would go back again and again if i could afford the gas.
I live in Portland Maine. There is so much more to the coast than York. Natives know to avoid York in the summer because of the number of tourists who remain trapped. York is not Maine! I assure you, there's more to explore. If it's the coast you're after, drive up Route 1 North until you find more options. York is fine for ...

We go every year
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/17/05
I grew up in MA and have been going to York for years, as did my parents and grandparents. I now live in Upstate NY and we drive nine hours every year to spend a week in York. My husband and children absolutely LOVE it. It is peaceful and relaxing, which is exactly the kind of vacation we look forward to.

Heaven on Earth
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/10/05
When my family and I see the sign that says "The Yorks" 1 mile ahead, we all open our car windows wide and breathe in the fresh air for we know for sure we are 1 mile away from Heaven on Earth. Traffic, yes...get there early but, don't let traffic deter you from literally a place we like to call a home away from home...may my husband and I be fortunate enough to retire there...enough said.

Nice town/Also good in the Fall

I love York - I wouldnt let the comments about the traffic discourage you! It is worth the trip - If you are flying, the best way to get there is to fly in to Manchester, NH and rent a car (Boston is too expensive) - from there I would visit Portsmouth, NH for lunch and shopping. Once you get to York, most of the bigger hotels are along Long ...
Having grown up in this area, there are a few things you'll need to know. Traffic is VERY bad July through August, and there are large crowds. Expect long delays and travel times to wherever you want to go...small streets in the quaint and beautiful downtowns weren't made for the numbers that visit. The beaches are beautiful and surf is ...
York is a great little town with lots to do and lots nearby. There are some very good restaurants, too. Unfortunately, it has become over popular and getting around in summer is nearly impossible.
