Eastport is a destination - you don't find it accidentally. This is our 4th year coming to this gorgeous island. Each year we have visited, we make sure we stop at the pizza shop there. We're NYC people and the pizza at home is pretty good BUT, the pizza in Eastport was FANTASTIC!!!
My husband and I recently spent several days here, at a friend's house. This was our first visit and within moments of arriving, we fell in love with the area. We were very sad that we couldn't stay longer, in fact, we really would have liked to have up and moved in.
Eastport was once a Blue collar town , where in the Main Street you would see old beat up pickup trucks as the most common vehicle, Now a walk downtown will glisten with shiny new, SuV's Volvo's , Mercedes, Hummers , and white guys in little white shorts with a sweater around thier necks , walking hmmm prancing kindof down the street. ...
It`s a beautiful place and very relaxed but there isn`t anything to do for the younger crowd. I hated being a teenager there but I appreciate it more now that I am an adult. It`s a great place to visit but I don`t recommend moving there.
A surprising little island with friendly people. A great 4th of July (which actually last 4-5 days.) with a huge parade and excellent fireworks. Quiet, elegant, but only a shadow of its former self. The people at City Hall are all fantastic as are the shop owners. Best pizza I've ever had (and they also serve great authentic Mexican food). ...
Eastport is at the end of nowhere, which is a plus in my book, but maybe not in others. You have to be able to live without city ammenities. There is a small IGA, a hardware store, several gift shops, and several small restaurants. You can see several Canadian islands from the wharf, including Roosevelt's Campobello.
