Everything about Bar Harbor is wonderful! The town itself is charming and the perfect size. Lots of little shops and wonderful places to eat, but small enough that you can feel the beauty of nature all around. It feels very unspoiled, the little harbor is clean and georgeous and you really feel nestled into the landscape. The town has a ...

Wonderful

I have visited Bar Harbor in late spring, summer and fall. True you need to be careful to plan your trip when things are open and things can be a little expensive, but we've found great deals on lodging and not all the restaurants are expensive. Those that are, I found to be well worth the money. The area is absolutely gorgeous and I plan to return as often as possible. I'll definitely be back next summer or fall.

Busy, no vacancies, but some great scenery.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/19/06
I didn't much care for the downtown Bar Harbor area. Traffic and tourists made it hard to get around. We looked for one of those coastal hotels, prepared to spend some money, but there were no vacancies everywhere.
What I remember most, is the room we got at Hanscomes. It was few miles from the busy areas. The woman who rented us a ...

Absolutely Beautiful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/18/06
We finally made it to Bar Harbour after talking about it for 13 years. What a wonderful place to visit! If you visit you have to go to Acadia Park. It's just like a postcard. We also took a whale watching tour and yep, we saw a whale (along with other creatures). Well worth the price of the trip. Fall is a beautiful time to go there too. Can't wait to visit again.
Bar Harbor is a place we have visited every year since 2001. The thing we like best about the town is its proximity to Acadia National Park. The park is the most wonderful place to explore and to relax. There are the carriage roads with opportunities to hike or bike. The Park Loop Road is always a treat with its beautiful views of mountains and ...

This will be our 9th year back. We have been travelling every year since we were married. This year we will be going with everyone (my dad, my in-laws, sister & her family and my own)! Always had the time of our lives. Took a neat horse & carriage ride around Acadia last year. Did the CAT ferry (would not reccommend for a multitude of ...

A quaint village with friendly people
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/14/06
Bar Harbor is wonderful! We loved the food, scentic views, and friendly hospitality, especially from the owner of, "Ivy Manor Inn" where we stayed. There are few places as lovely as this fishing village. We all agree to re-visit Bar Harbor and the Mount Desert Island area!

Wonderful, wonderful place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/15/06
Bar Harbor is so lovely. My family visited recently and we all agreed that we would return. The quaint shops and businesses, the friendly atmosphere, and the surroundings of nature make this a great get away. Lots to do, or nothing to do...the choice is yours. Great food, beautiful scenery, and friendly folks make this an ideal town.
Bar Harbor was beautiful. Hubby and I went Columbus Day weekend. Believe it or not there were very few tourists. We visited the Jordan Pond House for their famous tea and popovers, stayed at a cute little bed and breakfast in Winter Harbor, and at at the Fisherman's Inn. If you go to Acadia, be sure to stop by the Fisherman's Inn and see ...

It Has Everything...but Research First!

Bar Harbor is a wonderful place to visit with family or as a couple. TONS of places to eat/drink; but ask the locals. You'll spend a lot and for lousy food if you don't know where to go. Plenty of quiet hiking trails (Sur Dumount), Kayaking tours (Coastal Kayaking), sightseeing, and the best Twin Lobster meal at the Corner Cafe ...
