Bangor, a lovely city of about 35,000 people nestled in the woods of north-central maine, about 110 miles north of Portland. This city has something for everyone! Museums, an International Airport, close to the ocean & Acadia National Park, shopping malls, modern conveniences of a large town, only in a smaller town without the hustle & ...

Everything is closeby. Less than an hour to the ocean or deep in the moutains. Lots of outdoors stuff to do but at the same time there are multiple malls to go to for indoor stuff.

I've lived in Me. most of my life, the last 2 yrs. in Bangor. It is a little city by any standard. But it is full of culture, enjoyment, lots of activities, friendly people,nice streets on which to live & great opertunities.

Downtown Bangor was gutted by urban renewal back in the 1960's and so much of what makes a downtown beautiful, quaint, colorful was lost. That being said, Bangor has a lot going for it.

There are a couple of very good ethnic restaurants downtown right next to a very fun children's museum.

A little disappoint overall in the City of Bangor, but there again, I only went to see the Cole Transportation Museum and was not disappointed at all. Not much selection on hotels other than 'chains' but that okay.
