Every year sometimes twice a yearThe atmosphere is great! It feels very homey. I go during Thanksgiving because I have family there. But the Zydeco festival is also great and people think there is only things going on in New Orleans during Mardi Gras but Opelousas has their parade and things going on also. Try the boudin, you love it!OVERALL

Opelousas is a winnerI was in Opelousas during Katrina and the community was a real winner in extending out the welcome mat for thousands whom had left New Orleans. Thinking to many that Opelousas would be a safe haven the community expanded in size with many taking safe refuge.

A Charming CityOpelousas is a diamond in the rough, the third oldest city in the state and get off the main Street. Great neighborhoods in downtown sporting classic homes and vintage American Bungalow style homes on Court, Market to the left and right of the Courthouse. Several classic Southern style homes.
