Lafayette truley has a more kid-friendly MardiGras. Not as scarey as New Orleans.
Lafayette also has THE BEST "nightlife." Most of the Dance clubs/Bars are located on one street (Jefferson St), which is blocked off at night for people to walk freely. You can visit several different places in one night.
Lafayette does not have many ...

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/28/05
The people are so friendly, very much into the culture of the acadians, amazing how life was back in the early days. There are many different things to do and see there, the tourisum office can really guide you alot. We are looking to move there.

Home Sweet Home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/28/05
I was born in Lafayette, but raised up north in Missouri since I was 1 yrs old. Having lived in Lafayette now for 2 years I feel I still haven't experienced 'everything' Lafayette has to offer, I just don't find everything interesting. It's full of culture and diverse people. However, the drivers in this city are wreckless and ...

Love living here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/05
I love living here. Different people. Melting pot. Small enough for convenience, but still has a big city flavor. Festivals, music, FOOD, FOOD & more FOOD!
the only thing i don't like is the humidity in the summer. Mardi gras in lafayette is better than New Orleans...especially for families looking for clean fun.

Memorable 2½ years
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/21/05
Having a career in the petroleum industry means constant travelling and frequent relocations. One of several relocations resulted in being a Lafayette resident for 2½ years. Those Cajun folks are truly the most friendly people that I have had the pleasure to meet in all of my travels around the globe so far. Here are some "must do" ...

Cajun Country!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/13/05
I've only visited this town because my best friend grew up in Lafayette. It is sooo friendly and has a great small town feel. My family is from Hawaii and it totally reminds me of the laidback, slowpaced attitude in the islands. Being from California, it was a very different world, but it is truly a hidden gem. Things you MUST try: 1. Abita ...

Heart of Cajun Country
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/02/05
It's a big town with a small town 'tude. Grab a po'boy sandwich, listen to some Cajun music at Randol's, Prejean's, or Cafe des Amis, visit Vermilionville or Acadian Village, or the Cathedral and the 500+year old oak tree, or shop one of two malls. Many antebellum plantations just 90 minutes away.
